MarkMyWords is a markup editor mostly intended for writers. In this regard, it is excellent that it supports most of the markup languages that are commonly used to create publications, which include MultiMarkdown, Textile, Smark, Wikitext and BBCode. The application is very easy to use; however, it logically requires knowing how to use markup code.

It is good that the editor comes with its own file browser, which facilitates managing your documents. It is characterized by having two panels. The first is where you type your code while the other allows previewing the results in real time. As most users would like to see how their documents will look like in different browsers, it is good that you can set the preview to use different stylesheets or even create new ones. The editor itself is quite customizable. So, in addition to changing the default fonts and background color, you can also enable the distraction-free mode, which is supposed to let you focus on the contents of your writing instead of superfluous aspects.

There are various features intended to increase your productivity. In this respect, the one with the highest impact is OneClick Styles, used to apply quick formatting. Luckily, there are multiple styles to choose from. Besides, you can even modify the built-in styles or create your own. Likewise, there are various templates to start different types of publications. Again, it is possible to create custom templates for special needs.

Other features with an evident impact on your productivity are syntax highlighting as well as quick navigation to different sections of your document via headlines. Moreover, you can use markers as reminders of the work still to do. Finally, you can use markers for yourself or as part of the collaboration, which includes adding, removing, highlighting, commenting and replacing notes.

MarkMyWords supports importing from external files in different formats. Regrettably, importing Textile documents may take longer than expected, though. There is also a convenient browser extension that allows selecting a piece of text and importing it directly to the editor. Similarly, the application can export documents to other formats, such as PDF, RTF, DOC, ODT and HTML. Last but not least, it is good to know that you can incorporate more features by taking advantage of the tool’s support of plugins.

In general, MarkMyWords offers most of the features you would expect from an editor of its type. As said, it helps you increase your productivity as a writer by avoiding repetitive tasks and focusing on the contents of your articles. The product can be tried at no cost and bought from the Apple Store at an affordable price.

v2.7
**New:**
- MarkMyWords now supports the spelling and grammar checker of LanguageTool.org. This can be activated and used via the ribbon bar in the preview area
- new CriticMarkup inline tool for convenient marking of selected text. Activation via the menu option Markup > Inline CriticMarkup (⌃P)
**Bug fixes:**
- fixed a bug in the CSS selection menu that opened the wrong window in the preferences when selecting the "Add CSS Style" element
**General improvements:**
- MultiMarkdown, when a custom parser should be activated, the internal parser, when activated, caused a conflict. So, instead of using the custom parser, the internal parser was used. For MultiMarkdown it is now the case that the custom parser always has always priority over the other options
**MultiMarkdown improvements**:
- {{TOC}} markup for generating a table of contents is now supported, as well the {{TOC:2-3}} and {{TOC:3}} extended variants
**Markdown, MarkdownExtra, MultiMarkdown enhancements**:
- heading tags with additional attributes are no longer enclosed by p tags
**Textile improvements**:
- additional markup for IDs and classes can now also be provided to inline markup
- CAPS detection improved, possible CAPS within HTML tags (attributes) are no longer incorrectly converted
- table. markup is now also supported
- improved processing of attributes for block markup
- fixes a bug with the padding-right attribute in block markup
**Smark bug fixes**:
- fixes a problem where under certain circumstances some special elements are stripped out and do not give a correct result
- fixes a problem with the code tag that caused it not to render properly
