Master Spell allows users of all ages to test their spelling skills. The utility includes a rich set of features designed to make spelling an entertaining activity rather than a chore. With this tool, you will be able to create and manage drills for one or multiple pupils within a specified class.
Users have full control over the drill contents; to each word part of the test you may add the appropriate spelling (via voice recording), assign a level of difficulty and text-to-speech paragraph. An important feature is the ability to monitor spelling progress over multiple drills. Master Spell displays the words misspelled, number of words mastered as well as a progress graph.
The application may be used by one teacher and multiple pupils; each pupil retains a unique username and password and can be assigned a few privileges: create new pupils, test selection, clean the history log, cancel drill.
Master Spell comes with over 20 different voices that will guide you through its usage. The downside is that while it is designed to help and is certainly useful, I found that it can easily distract you from spelling and cannot be disabled.
The built-in Hangman game is another of the application's main features and complements the drills by testing out words from the same difficulty level.
Master Spell is a great tool for both school as well as home spelling practice. It is designed not only to test the current skill but also to improve it in time.
