Melody Player is specifically intended for playing music generated with Harmony or Melody Assistant, that is why it supports such formats as MUS, MYR and MYA. Yet, it also allows playing other formats, including MID, ABC, MOD, S3M, XML and MXL. Likewise, it can play common file types, like WAV, AIFF, MP3 and OGG. Since it comes with the digital sound database, it is not necessary to have a MIDI card.
The player has a simple-to-use interface, which, regrettably, looks rather outdated. You can start by creating a list of songs to play. It is a shame that they can only be loaded through the browser, as dragging and dropping files onto its window does not work. You can easily navigate through the playlist you have created while having access to such file properties as their name, duration and score.
The player comes with the usual playback button and volume control. Besides, it allows controlling playback mode; for instance, you can repeat the same song or the whole list as well as set random playback. Additionally, it is possible to view a metronome and change the song’s tempo. Besides, there is a mixer and keyboard to customize sounds. Through settings, you can control a few features, like changing channels, quality and bitrate.
In general, Melody Player will not substitute other music players as it is not as feature-rich. It does not look very well either. However, it does have the advantage of playing some rare formats, like those used by Harmony and Melody Assistant.
