Microsoft Edge has been reborn. In fact, its latest versions are based on Chromium, which is probably the best way to build a browser nowadays. As a result, the new Microsoft Edge has inherited all the goodies of Chromium, including improved performance and support of a long list of Chrome extensions.
Its interface is not too different from those of other Chromium-based browsers, which is an advantage in terms of usability. However, I am glad it is not an exact copy and Microsoft has added their own touch to this product. But not only that, you can change its appearance to make it much more personal. In this regard, the availability of themes is a great opportunity to do so. One thing you would like to change is its default search engine, Bing, which is not the most popular option.
Microsoft Edge is definitely fast, which is one of the most desirable features in a browser. Besides, you can have more thanks to its support of Chrome extensions, although sadly not all of them are readily allowed. Likewise, you could be happy to know that it lets you actually install supported websites as apps.
In regards to privacy, Microsoft Edge comes with the usual features, such as InPrivate browsing mode and ad-blocker. However, although I understand it is necessary for proper functioning, some advanced features, like accessing Office 365 tools and SharePoint, require authenticating with a Microsoft account, which compromises your privacy in a certain way.
All in all, leaving old prejudices aside, Microsoft Edge surface as one of the best browsers available. Besides, there has been a lot of expectations about the continuous improvement of this product, which is already happening. Good to know that the product is free and available not only for Windows but other platforms as well.
