Parkour is a form of free running, created in the suburbs of Paris. The objective of parkour is to deal with obstacles in the most effective and fluid way. As a form of physical expression it gained popularity around the world, and now it is in video games too. Mirror's Edge main character, Faith, uses parkour as a way to move through the city undetected by the totalitarian regime that rules it. She is a member of a revolutionary group in charge of delivering messages and performing missions for them. The developers stressed that this is not a first-person shooter, although you have to use weapons from time to time, it is a first person action-adventure game. There is a lot of focus placed on the movement of the character, momentum and fluidity are key in order to move around the rooftops. There is a good amount of hand-to-hand combat which you must control, but yes, there is the time you need to grab a gun and shot someone. Because movement is so crucial, you can see Faith's arms and legs. The graphics are great, as well as the gameplay. Some people might find the game innovative, others might find its elements old. It depends on tastes. The only real disadvantage is that the game is too short. The demo is out on the main website. Try it, and if you like it, it's worth the buy.
