Movavi DVD Ripper is a commercial DVD ripper for the Mac. It allows you to convert DVD movies to video files that you can play on your Mac and several mobile devices such as iPods, iPhones, Blackberry phones, AppleTV, etc. The app uses two different categories for the selection of output formats. One is Devices and the other is Advanced. The Device category lists conversion profiles for the devices I mentioned and some others, while the Advanced category lets you choose a format and play with the settings a bit more. You can also create presets and save them for later use.
This DVD ripper has a very nice user interface. The graphics are well made and the entire interface is very nicely organized. There is a video player for quick video playback and a list of all the DVD titles that make up your movie.
There are a few missing features, though. Although you can choose the audio stream that you want to use, you can't choose a subtitle track. Also, there aren't any video editing features; that means no video trimming, cropping, no watermarks, or effects, etc.
In all honesty, you can get more complete rippers for $40. What this lacks in features, it only makes up for with a great design and good performance.
