Mp3tag can help you edit the metadata that identifies your audio files. It has an ample support of tag formats, including various versions of ID3 as well as iTunes, WMA, Vorbis and APE. The main advantage of this application is that it allows changing tags in batches instead of using the system’s file properties dialog to edit them one by one. This way, you can use it to save a lot of time and effort.
The tool has a nice interface, and working with it is not very different from using a media library, for the tool can scan given folders and add the music files they contain to its database. Fortunately, it supports practically every audio format. The application allows various methods by which you can edit tags. Using format strings, it is possible to get tag info from specific sections of the filename. Conversely, you can also rename files based on tag information. However, in my opinion, the easiest way is searching the needed data on various online music databases, such as Amazon, Discogs, MusicBrainza, and FreeDB. From them, it can even download cover art.
Besides providing a convenient way to organize your music files, Mp3Tags can also manage file copying operations. Additionally, thanks to its powerful search options, it is the ideal tool to create playlists.
