Musicnizer is a music organizer that allows you to catalog your music collection. It offers plenty of options to keep your music organized in a database that includes photos, biographies, and other facts about your favorite artists. Musicnizer will simplify the way you usually access and search for music and is also a tool that can come in handy for those running a small music store.

As developers say, Musicnizer works as an encyclopedia sorting music and completing the catalog with additional information so you can learn more about the artists and albums you like. To start organizing your collection, the first thing you need to do is add music to the app's database. You can do this in a variety of ways: by title (that is manually), by barcode (for which you need to use your webcam), from audio CDs in your CD drive, or by scanning files and folders in your PC. It supports MP3, APE, FLAC, OGG Vorbis, among other formats. As you add music, the app connects to the web to download information such as the album cover, descriptions, awards, artists' bios, etc. From the application settings you can specify the type of information you want to download, as well the online source (such as Last.Fm) that will provide the information. If the info is not complete, you can add and edit fields. It is also possible to search and download photos related to an artist with the program's 'image search' function, which lets you select the pictures you want to keep in your database. Of course, there are lots of other things you can do with this application, for example, create backups of your database, create and print reports and statistics, use the loan manager to keep track of loaned items, and more.

The application interface looks like a file browser and making use of its different functions could not be easier. To the left there is a navigation panel organizing your music into albums, artists, genre, according to your ratings, etc. To the right, it displays the contents selected; you can play music using the in-built audio player, rate songs and albums, add comments, etc.

So if you have a giant, messy music collection that keeps growing every day, Musicnizer can really help you sorting it out and complete it with additional information. It is easy to use and offers a bunch of interesting options.

v7.1 [Mar 19, 2014]
In Musicnizer 7.1, additional fields for artists become available. They work in the same way as custom fields and lists for albums. You can assign any name to such field and provide any list of values. For example, we used a custom field as "Entity" with two values: person and band. A custom list is used in our example as "Tags".

In the "Edit info" window, a special tab was added for custom fields:

With custom fields, you can select just one value, while multiple values can be selected from a custom list.
[ ] Added a new user interface, Orange.
An additional user interface (theme), Orange, becomes available in Musicnizer 7.1.

[ ] On the search tab, it is now possible to search for albums that are not in the collection.
The "Status" field on the "Search" tab receives a third option. Now you can look for albums from your collection, albums that are not in your collection (the new option), or both ("In database").

[ ] For artists without photos, photos can now be downloaded automatically.
Musicnizer 7.1 can automatically download photos for any number of artists. Just enable Group Operations, select artists that you want to download photos for, right-click the list and select the "Find photos of the artist" item. This will download photos only for artists that do not have any photos yet. Artists that already have at least one photo will be skipped.

In the Report Builder of Musicnizer, you can easily create reports containing various fields from your music database. In Musicnizer 7.1, a new field was made available for the Report Builder. Now you can select "Labels" (which refers to record labels) when creating a new report template.

[ ] The "Add album / artist" window remembers its size between sessions.
You can change size of the "Add album" and "Add artist" windows by dragging their borders. Musicnizer 7.1 saves the adjusted size and restores it next time you use the program.

[*] The focus of the "Add album / artist" window is automatically set to the field where you enter titles and names.
When you open the "Add album" or "Add artist" window, the focus is now set to the input field. Previously you needed to click the field before starting to enter titles or names.
[*] On the toolbar, width of arrows that open dropdown options for the corresponding buttons was increased.
Musicnizer offers 3 sizes of toolbar buttons: small, medium, and big. Musicnizer 7.1 makes the arrows that you find next to certain buttons more friendly: bigger buttons now have bigger arrows.
