Muzzy is a simple Menu Bar program that provides you with information about songs being played within iTunes. This application is very easy to handle, uses minimum CPU resources while running on your Menu Bar, and communicates well with iTunes.
If you launch Muzzy and iTunes isn't opened, the app provides you with a button to start the Mac's default audio player. Each time a song starts being played within iTunes, Muzzy shows the corresponding artwork and track details (artist and song names).
The program also features an option to stop iTunes playback if you unplug your headphones. What's more, you can set up the app to automatically launch at system login.
Another advantage is the fact that it automatically detects songs from the same album as the track that's currently being played within iTunes. Muzzy shows you a list containing all album tracks and you can browse through the playlist.
Nonetheless, iTunes displays song info under your Menu Bar whenever it starts playing another song. So, it's up to you to decide if it's worth installing an additional program on your computer or not.
