MyPhoneDesktop is a very innovative application for controlling your iOS devices. There are two parts to myPhoneDesktop: the client and the server. The server app, in this case, is installed on your iPhone. You can download the myPhoneDesktop app from the iTunes store, which is $4.99. The clients are available for free for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. There is even a web client that you can access from a web browser.
What myPhoneDesktop basically does is let you push data from your computer to your iOS devices (iPod touch, iPhone, iPad). There are quite a few things you can do. For example, you can use this suite to type text into your phone. You can start calls and send SMS messages, all from your computer. There is support for pictures as well. You can simply send a picture to your iPhone, which can then be copied to the clipboard or placed under the Photos.app.
In my opinion, the most interesting feature that myPhoneDesktop has to offer is its ability to send URLs to the phone. You can copy any URL in the client version and it will be sent to the iOS device, which will then interpret the URL and launch the appropriate app. I saw a couple of demos of people using this functionality to send maps to the device and it works like a charm.
All in all, myPhoneDesktop couldn't be easier to set up. It works extremely well and it offers some great functionality.
