Neat Image is intended to improve your photos, particularly those taken in situations far from being ideal. The product is a digital filter, available both as a standalone app and a Photoshop plug-in, and works by reducing noise in your shots.

The tool's interface makes it easy to use. In this regard, there are tabs that suggest the steps part of the workflow, such as importing images, creating a noise profile, setting the properties of the filter and generating the output images. Moreover, there are various learning resources available online, like quick guides and tutorials. There is also a sample image you can try the app in.

What is best about this tool is that it uses smart algorithms to reduce image noise without affecting quality. In this respect, it is excellent that the tool can adapt its processing to the particularities of the camera the photo was taken with, for this purpose, a device noise profile is created. The tool produces better results than other applications with similar purposes, which usually reduce noise at the expense of making the image less sharp.

Fortunately, there are two working modes. In beginner mode, the app takes care of most of the processing without your intervention. However, if you want to have more control over the results, you can switch to advanced mode to manually adjust the filtering parameters. It is a shame, though, that this option is not so visible for the user.

All in all, Neat Image uses an adequate combination of sharpening and denoising filters to improve your photographs. Two different licenses of this product are available: Home and Pro. Besides, it can be tried at no cost without feature limitations.
