Networker Lite is intended to monitor your network speed. In this respect, the tool can provide you with separate values for your upload and download speeds, which helps you make decisions to solve some kinds of problems. For instance, you can have evidence supporting your complaints to your ISP provider for not meeting your contract specifications.
The application runs almost unnoticeably from the Menu Bar and it can even be set to run automatically at startup. Moreover, there is a floating speed meter to show upload and download speeds. A click on the app’s icon drops down a menu that gives you access to its main window. There, you can find a graph showing a log of your connection speed as well as your current IP address. Luckily, you can customize it by changing the unit types (bytes or bits). Likewise, you can specify how often you want the available data to be refreshed. In this regard, three frequencies are available: Slow, Normal and Fast.
Compared with other similar tools, Network Lite lacks many of their features. For instance, it does not allow showing speeds by target domain. Neither does the graph show a timeline for you to know when the speed peaks happened exactly.
All in all, Networker Lite is actually very basic and does nothing I would call “extraordinary”. However, it has a pleasant interface customizable interface, which is, above all, very unobtrusive. The product is free to use and, if you need more, there is the possibility of upgrading it as an in-app purchase.
