NotePlan helps you increase your productivity through better planning of your activities. However, it does more than that, because this tool also lets you take notes on your ideas as well. The program is meant to be simple because productivity is about that. It would not make sense that a product with such purpose takes a lot of your time instead of helping you make better use of it.
NotePlan has a simple-to-use interface, in which a calendar is a central element. Besides, there are panels for taking notes and tagging elements. In this regard, tags contribute to finding entries more easily, even when the program supports full-text search. It is also good that the tool allows two views: one to focus on your daily tasks and the other to view your notes.
One of the main characteristics of NotePlan is the use of Markdown documents associated with events and notes. In fact, any item can be automatically recognized as a task, because tasks are actually Markdown lists.
It is excellent news that you do not need to create entries from scratch, as the tool is integrated with such built-in tools as Calendar and Notes. This way, any change you make in your schedule or any new note you create appears in NotePlan automatically. Unluckily, the integration does not work the other way around as you cannot feed the built-in tools with events and notes made in NotePlan.
To conclude, NotePlan seems to be more useful in planning short-term events, for instance, planning your day. In this respect, it definitely lacks some of the project management features you can find in sophisticated software. However, this does not mean that it will not boost your productivity, which is why I strongly recommend this product. Luckily, all of its features can be tried at no cost for a limited period of time.
