Nottingham is a simple Mac utility for writing and storing your notes. This program comes in handy if you need to immediately create a shopping list, write down ideas for one of your ongoing projects, keep a diary on your Mac, etc.

The application comes with a very intuitive interface, brings you an effective search tool, and checks and corrects grammar mistakes within moments. It also communicates well with Mac's Dictionary utility. Hit the Control+Command+D keys to reveal the definition of the word underneath your mouse cursor.

Other than that, not much more can be said about this program. It comes with a limited amount of features, some of them being advertised on the homepage of the developer and missing from the app's interface. For instance, I can't find any option to sync the stored notes or to add tags to my entries.

The application also lacks text editing options (for example, page arrangement settings) and the ability to export or print the stored notes.

Even though the app comes without a price, I still don't think it's worth installing it on your Mac. You can find better solution for writing notes.

v3.0 [Nov 18, 2016]
- It's now super easy to insert a wiki link to another note. When editing a note, just press the Shift+Command+W keys to pop-up a list of matching note titles you'd like to insert.
- Nottingham now supports editing HTML and Markdown file formats.
- Changed the "Delete Note" hotkey to Shift+Command+Backspace so it no longer conflicts with the standard system Command+Delete (delete to the begging of the current line).
- Increase the frequency that Nottingham checks for updates.
- A good number of other bug fixes.
