nuTXT is intended to create text files directly from the Menu Bar. It has the particularity of filling the new file with the contents of the clipboard. The application is extremely unobtrusive and runs from the Menu Bar. Likewise, it is possible to display it also as a Dock icon.
In order to create a new file, there are two main options available from the tool’s menu. The first lets you create a new blank TXT file while the second gives you the chance to generate the new file from clipboard contents. Logically, this second option will work properly only when there is text stored in the clipboard.
Luckily, you can also go to Settings to adjust the tool to your preferences. In this regard, you can ask the application to automatically open the new text file after its creation. Likewise, you have the choice of naming the file based on the current date and time. Moreover, it is possible to revert any changes and make the desktop the default output folder again.
All in all, nuTXT has the main advantage of allowing to save clipboard contents to a new TXT file. However, it is a pity that the tool does not support creating other popular file types. The product can be bought from the Mac App Store. Although its price is rather low, I feel such a simple tool should rather be free.
