OsiriX MD is a Class II Medical Device cleared by the FDA for diagnostic imaging in medicine. It is based on the popular open-source project, OsiriX, but is not identical due to FDA regulations. Each user is registered, has a unique serial number, and all modifications to the software must be validated, tested, and documented. Additionally, all plugins must be cleared by the FDA. This ensures that OsiriX MD is certified for medical imaging, including primary diagnosis.
