Pavtube HD Video Converter is a multi-format video converter. It is a commercial converter that was designed to let you convert files of lots of different formats into a variety of HD formats. There are quite a few conversion profiles for devices that go from mobile phones and iPods to gaming consoles.
Graphically, Pavtube HD Video Converter has a nice graphical interface, but I felt it was a bit slow. There is a video player for quick video previews and a video editor that allows you to add effects, watermarks and crop and trim your videos.
In terms of performance, I believe this converter is on par with other solutions out there. It converted 2 minutes of video from an MKV file into a H.264 file in less than 4 minutes. The resulting file was played well on VLC and it should play as well on the iPad and other devices that support the format.
One thing that I don't like about this application is that it uses an installation wizard. There's nothing wrong with that, on Windows, but on a Mac, you'd expect developers to make the installation of their product a smooth and easy task.
All in all, this is a good converter with extraordinary output format support. It has a few problems. It felt a little slow, and I couldn't really use my Mac while it was converting. And I would like this app to let you select the audio track and subtitles for files that have them.
