PDFMate PDF Converter Professional transforms any PDF file into some of the most widely used document formats, such as Microsoft Word (DOC), EPUB, HTML, or TXT. Image-based scanned PDFs can also be converted into editable text thanks to the program’s OCR support, while text-based PDFs can be transformed into images or SWF video files just as easily.

Nothing in the program’s interface or in its functionality requires you to have any specific skills to enjoy using the PDF Converter Professional. The seven output formats supported are clearly visible thanks to a set of oversized icons at the bottom of the program’s initial window. The entire conversion process requires merely three steps – select the file(s) or folder(s) you wish to convert, click on one of those icons, and press on the “Convert” button.

By transforming your PDF files into HTML, Word, or TXT you will have the opportunity of editing these otherwise inaccessible documents. This is also true for those scanned PDF files whose pages are nothing but images, even when they contain textual information mainly. In this case, you can rely on the program’s OCR support, which will transform the images into editable text, provided that the document is in English. Conversion to EPUB is one of the program’s main assets, especially now that this format has become the de facto standard of the e-publishing industry and Apple’s favorite e-book format.

This PDFMate’s conversion tool can also be used to merge various PDF files into a bigger one, and this professional version will allow you to split PDF files as well. Other utilities available only in the pro version are the possibility of converting a specific range of pages, unlimited OCR support (the free version stops converting your document after the third page), and PDF to DOC conversion.

Each of the formats supported allows for a certain level of customization for the output, a somehow limited feature that could easily benefit from further development.
