PDFsam Enhanced 

In line with the most famous and comprehensive PDF editors – Adobe Acrobat Pro included – PDFsam Enhanced includes features to edit, convert, create, combine, read, view, sign, and secure PDF documents, including form filling. The free trial provided, however, is limited to viewing and reading PDF files, though you can ask for a free license to activate and use its PDF creation module.

Reviewing apps that refuse access to most of its functionality is simply not possible, just as it is for potential users to make sure that the program they’re considering purchasing will work for them as promised. Regrettably, this is a trend that seems to be gaining ground among software developers, apparently ignoring that some serious competitors allow for a thorough testing of its functionality. Thus, stripped off of most of the functionality that might well set PDFsam Enhanced above its rivals, only its View and Create modules have been made available for review.

Its attractive and clean design follows the new Windows 10 look and feel, making any W10 user feel at home right away. Thus, the layout of the main window makes it look just like another member of the Office suite of tools, complete with its ribbon, menus, icons, etc. When viewing or reading a PDF file, you can choose among various useful options – single, continuous, facing, and facing continuous pages. Besides, you have a preview panel where you can see thumbnails of all the pages in the document, allowing you to jump to any of them just by clicking on it. Besides, its tabbed interface will let you have as many PDF documents open and available as required. You can use the program’s zoom in and out capabilities and a full-screen mode to improve your reading experience.

In order to make use of the Create module, you’ll need to request a special free license from the developers. Once registered, you’ll be allowed to use some of the functionality present in this module, such as the scanner-to-PDF creation tool and the PDF converter to create new PDF files from TXT, EPUB, and a number of image file formats. Here you can also combine any number of files in any of the formats supported into a larger PDF document. Some of these files, such as PDFs, will allow you to combine a page range of the file instead of the whole document.

PDFsam Enhanced offers a promising set of editing, reviewing, inserting, securing & signing, form filling, and conversion features that have been all disabled in the program’s trial, which leaves them, therefore, out of the scope of this review.
