Periscope Pro is a video and sound surveillance application. This tool allows monitoring whatever happens in the desired place by connecting to various types of cameras, including IP cameras, webcams and CamTwist. In addition, it can start recording automatically when sound and motion events are detected.
The tool has a modern and compact interface, which makes setting it up quite easily. In this regard, you can configure your preferences in terms of maximum video resolution and frames per second from a wide range of recording formats. Likewise, you can specify where you want the resulting footage to be stored. Other useful options are automatically uploading clips to your Dropbox account, activating the tool by schedule and setting password protection.
The app supports various modes: Continuous, Motion Detection, Audio Detection and Motion+Audio Detection, which define when you want to start recording. In the case of motion and audio detection, it is also possible to set the desired threshold sensitivity levels. Likewise, a wide range of camera models is supported, so you will probably have no problem to use yours.
The application keeps the recorded clips in a local folder. Fortunately, it uses strong compression algorithms to make efficient use of the storage space available. Similarly, it can be set to automatically delete old footage to make extra space. Good news is that there is a built-in player, which conveniently lets you browse and preview your clips.
All in all, Periscope Pro is useful mainly for home surveillance tasks, like watching your baby's sleep or your garden. However, it is not so convenient for large surveillance projects because it does not allow monitoring multiple spots simultaneously.
