PhotoHound comes as an alternative to using Preview, Mac's default image viewer, for checking information regarding photos. This utility might come in handy when you need to upload a folder containing numerous pictures and wish to know if all photos have the same color profile and format.
The application allows you to import only folders with images, you cannot load individual files. After you select the input directory, the program scans its contents and displays info regarding all pictures in it. You can learn details like color profile (for instance, sRGB), resolution, EXIF info, size, etc.
Mac's default image viewer (Preview) offers you the same information that PhotoHound displays when importing photo folders. The one advantage of working with the latter is that it lets you load multiple photos and shows the necessary info in the same window. With Preview, you need to load one photo at a time, go to Inspector window, and check the picture's details.
In my testing, the program worked flawlessly as it offered me detailed info regarding the images within the selected directory. Furthermore, it didn't slow down my Mac while analyzing the imported folder.
In conclusion, you should install this free app on your Mac if you need to learn detailed information regarding a large collection of pictures.
