It provides a very simple and straightforward selection method, suitable for all types of users, and it produces high-quality results especially with simple and flat backgrounds.
Removing objects from images and photographs is not a simple task. It takes highly complex algorithms and hundreds of calculations to get it right, and even professional and more expensive image editors find it hard to deal with elaborate backgrounds. PhotoWipe is a tool that anyone can use, so learning is required. Just paint the area you want to get rid of using any of the brushes provided and let the program do the rest. Results, however, will vary greatly from picture to picture – removing a bird from a clear blue sky is much simpler than getting rid of that same bird when flying among tree branches. In any case, you can always preview the results before launching the final retouching task. (Note that the preview you get is always of a lesser quality than the final picture – it barely gives you a hint of what the program can do with that specific object in that specific background.)
Remember that this is a free tool designed for amateurs – do not expect it to be as effective as professional highly-priced applications, but do not expect it to solve all your problems. I would not recommend PhotoWipe for professional or picky users, but those in need of a simple and fast utility to help them remove an ex-girlfriend from an old photograph or an unknown tourist from their favorite shot will surely enjoy using it.
