Whenever you want to check the availability of a network or to keep an eye on your domain, PingPlotter is a program that you can depend on. It is a great networking tool, which will give you all the information you need about any website or IP address.

In order to ping a certain address, PingPlotter will first trace your entire route, from your computer to the end point, and give you response times for each hoop that it passes through. Naturally, you also have the option to skip any hoop, so that your report will not contain any unnecessary information.

PingPlotter also provides some very handy monitoring options as it allows you to create as many alerts as you desire, decide when they should be triggered and the actions that the application should take. Besides being able to send text messages to your phone, this application can basically many other things: from displaying text alerts or automatically launching applications to sending e-mails to your inbox.

There is a great deal of things that I really liked about PingPlotter such as the fact that it will automatically save any address that you ping, that it enables you to export your trace report as an image as well as a text document or that you can “Whois” or block the address of any hoop. So, I guess there's not much else I can say except that I think this program would make a good purchase and that, in my opinion, you could at least give it a shot to see you what it can do.

v3.3 [Sep 29, 2008]
Fixed shutdown access violation that would sometimes occur. Added link to the knowledge base from the Help Menu. /INIFILE setting would still use local profile settings if it existed. "Attach Collected Data to Email" and "Include Text in Email" options not saving correctly in some cases. Alerts would sometimes double-fire, and not always notify when conditions ended. This happened when the route lengthened while the final destination was unreachable. Auto-Save now defaults to save to your "My Documents" folder instead of the PingPlotter install path. This can be overriden by specifying a full path. Auto save now creates more than one level of directories, allowing $year\$month\$day\$dest style nesting.
