Pixelmator is a very nice-looking graphics editor for the Mac. It is an app that is incredibly lightweight, fast, and has an excellent design. It allows you to carry out most basic image editing tasks. It has a variety of tools that can be used to touch up images, or completely change a picture. Most of the tools that you see in commercial graphics editors are there. Of course, you just need the knowledge and creativity of a designer to make the better possible use of them.
Pixelmator supports most graphics formats. I have been using this tool for a while for basic things, like resizing a picture or deleting parts of it. I have also used it to convert formats. I like that it has a web export feature that resizes images considerably and converts them to JPG. It all can be done using keyboard hotkeys, too, which saves me a lot of time.
This app integrates well with other Apple apps present in your system. For example, it can take pictures from your iSight camera and load them onto the interface. It can also access your iPhoto library to browse images.
All in all, this is a great graphics editing app that can be used for basic and more complex operations. It is not very expensive and it has always worked well for me.
