Perfect for bulk conversions of entire folders full of images into whatever file format fits you best, Pixillion Image Converter is an excellent solution for our ever-growing large collections of digital photos and other images. With support for all well-known image file formats, it also offers you limited image editing and enhancing capabilities.
This NCH tool is not famous for its beautiful and attractive interface, but it is clear and makes it easy – even for the novice user – to get things done. Though useful also for enhancing, editing, and converting one image at a time, Pixillion Image Converter has been clearly designed for bulk conversions. Maybe that is why most of the options you’ll find to correct and enhance your pictures are so generic and straightforward – that way, the chances that the settings you select for the selected picture fit the rest are considerably bigger.
The conversion process itself can be as simple or complex as you wish. If converting a batch of images is all you need, all you have to do is add them all to the list, select an output format, and click on the “Convert” button. If you wish to add certain filters and/or effects, compress your files, resize them, flip and/or rotate them, and add a text or image watermark to them all, it’ll take you a bit longer, though.
Either way, the entire process involves none or a very short learning curve. Despite its many options – access to an image file editor included – have been designed to make all your file conversions as simple and fast as possible. Besides, if you only use this tool at home and for your own benefit, you won’t need to pay for its not-so-cheap license fee. NCH utilities have been out there long enough to create a reputation for themselves and their extensive catalog of media-related tools and be seen as both reliable and professional. In that sense, Pixillion Image Converter is no exception.
v7.3 [Sep 7, 2020]
Not all the images taken with our digital camera are always in the right format or have the right size when it comes to sharing them with our friends and family, for instance. And that is also true for many of the images we download from the Web or are handed out to us as part of our job. There is where Pixillion Image Converter can come in handy, as this image conversion tool can transform all your photos and other images into smaller ones and/or convert them into a more suitable format all at once, in one single operation.
This NCH tool is fairly simple and easy to use – all you are asked to do is select the image, set of images, or folder of pictures you want to transform or convert, select an output format, and click on the “Convert” button. The great thing about this simple tool is not only that you can convert a large number of files in one go, but also that you can squeeze in some edits into the process. Thus, you can resize the files using various methods (percentage, original aspect ratio, a predefined or a custom frame size, etc.), flip and/or rotate them, add a text and/or an image watermark, and even apply some simple filters (black and white, sepia, or negative), which I find to be a bit lame for an otherwise great tool like this.
Though the program’s interface counts with a convenient small image viewer where you can preview whatever image you select from the conversion list, you may want to double-click on it and see it in all its glory. The program will open a new window where you can see and zoom your photo and even enjoy its tiniest details in full-screen mode.
Though the program is not free (and not on the cheap side for an image conversion tool with limited editing features, for that matter), as it happens with all the NCH tools I know, you can always download a free version that you can use without limitation at home and for your own purposes only. If you intend to make any commercial use of the outcome, though, you are kindly asked to purchase the corresponding license. Certainly a tool to seriously consider whenever bulk image conversion, resizing, cropping, etc., is required.
