Poedit is an instrument for professional and hobby translators which provides a convenient way of performing localization tasks. Its interface concentrates the information needed for translation in the edit area: message contexts, format indicators, 'needs work' flag (marks the entries which should be paid additional attention). Highlighting of special characters and formats simplifies the mistakes and misprints search.
The WordPress connection makes sure your edited copy of a file is saved on the server once you have saved it in the program. The new file with the changes is reuploaded automatically.
Templates simplify the work of any translator, Poedit supports Twig templates and Timber, and makes it possible to extract strings from them.
The program developers note that the machine translation the software provides is of a very high quality and uses a huge online database. And as it can translate the complete file if you want it to, it may save you a lot of time requiring corrections only, not complete work to be done.
Sadly, the last three options are available in the full Pro version only, though machine translation can be tested on several sentences before you have to upgrade to use it.
From personal experience, it works nicely, is reliable and convenient. The translations are performed line by line with the possibility to add comments and cooperative work. One aspect you find out in the process of dealing with Poedit - when you save an edited translation it creates two files (.po and .mo), the .po file holds the translation itself; the .mo one is, so to say, a helping one, though no less important.
So, if you have regular translation tasks you may like this software, it deserves to be given a chance.
