Developer:

POPFile is a program that will classify your incoming mail into different buckets. This way you can organize all your incoming messages according to a given criteria, making it easy for you to find what you want when needed. You can define as many categories as you wish (hobby, projects, personal, work) and even a "spam" category, where the program will put all those unwanted messages that spammers send you offering their pills, certificates, and Nigerian heritages.

POPFile will look for certain words in the message and will decide where to store that message in a specific bucket according to some keywords and built-in statistics about usage of certain words and expressions, based on simple Bayes algorithm. That will require a training period – the classification will become more and more accurate with use, as the program learns what to store and where according to your instructions.

This program will allow you to classify your incoming mail if you are a Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail, or Outlook Express user. It will act as a proxy server between your incoming POP server and your computer. POPFile will configure your mail accounts automatically for Outlook Express, while for the other two clients mentioned above you will have to configure your accounts manually.
