PredictWind Offshore is intended to provide sailors with accurate weather forecasts. The application is powered by PredictWind, a reliable subscription weather routing service, and, although the service can be accessed from your web browser, having an app specifically made for it is definitely an advantage.

The application is extremely straightforward, which makes it appropriate for all kinds of users. Needless to say, it requires knowing how to interpret a weather map properly. Most of the space is dedicated to showing the map. Moreover, there is a bottom panel from where you can choose the type of meteorological variable you want to access, including wind, rain, cloud, air temperature, gust, CAPE and wave. Likewise, there is the Waypoints right panel. Luckily, to set your waypoints, you only need to enter the GPS coordinates for both departure and destination.

Most of the value of this tool is derived from the accuracy provided by the PredictWind service. It uses four different weather models and has over 20,000 stations worldwide. Moreover, it integrates with the IridumGO satellite to provide you with even more exact weather routing.

All in all, PredictWind Offshore is practically a must for all sailors. It definitely contributes to making their journeys securer. There is only one disadvantage I can think of: the updates are rather large considering Internet conditions while you are at sea. The app is free to download and use. However, the associated services do require a payment.
