Modern media is almost entirely digital, which includes music generated and enhanced on computers. In the past, only professional had access to rare and complex software for music production. But this has changed now when programs like PreSonus Studio One are available.
Studio One is a full suite for producing, mixing and editing music, used both by amateur enthusiasts and professional musicians. It has an interface which is pleasant to look at and not overly complex and bloated to the point of confusion.
However, I found the color scheme a bit too monochrome, and resolutions of several sub-menus and windows too small, which can make the toolset difficult to look at. The main screen lets you select saved or started projects with uploaded media files, and then you can access the Song window which provides you with a gigantic set of tools to crop, sync, edit, filter, re-adjust or otherwise change or enhance your music. Once again, albeit a bit monochrome, the interface is comfortable enough to work with, and having a single suite for all the different media tools is really sweet.
PreSonus Studio One lets you add backing tracks with automatic syncing the tempo of your song; the Arranger Track menu lets you easily change the arrangement of the track using drag'n'drop interface; there's also keyword-based musical search and about 10 thousand standard audio and music loops in the Professional version. The program even has its own browser that can perform various online actions and access a special online marketplace hosted by the developers.
The functionality of Studio One is beyond extensive. You can do pretty much anything with the song you select. And it even supports various plugins that add even more features. The response time of different menus and elements of the interface is fast, the program works remarkably stable for something so advanced. Even if some may find the full paid version a little expensive, it's well worth the money.

Mastering an album is much more than sequencing and level-matching. Studio One’s Browser offers quick access to instruments, effects, sounds, files, and more. In version 2, you can search within any location in the Browser, making it even faster and easier to find the resources you want.
Typing text into the search field will immediately begin the search, and only results matching the search text will be displayed. Then the found content can be used directly. Choose Show in Context or Show in Explorer/Finder to quickly access other content that’s stored in the same location. Now it’s easier than ever to find what you want and drag-and-drop it where you want it quickly, while your creativity is still flowing.
Studio One’s editing features for musical-performance data have significantly increased in version 2.
Now you can view and edit more than one instrument track at a time in the Music Editor, select multiple parts on different color-coded Tracks in the Arrangement and edit them together.

Studio One now features an innovative Track Transform feature, as well as event-based effects.
Audio and instrument tracks feature the new Transform feature, which you can think of as a very flexible alternative to “freezing.” An entire audio track can be rendered in place with one click, removing any inserted effects plug-ins and conserving CPU power while still allowing normal editing. One click restores the original audio events and any inserted effects. One click can also transform an instrument track into an audio track, and the audio can then be edited normally. (Notes are displayed as a clear indication that the audio has been transformed from an instrument.) This conserves a lot of CPU power with today’s advanced virtual instruments, and it opens many creative possibilities that were too bothersome to attempt before now. And, as you might guess, one click brings the instrument track right back.
Furthermore, every audio event in the arrangement has its own insert device rack, where any number of effects can be inserted, just like the insert device rack found on all mixer channels. When the desired sound is achieved, these effects can be rendered with a single click, removing the effects plug-in and conserving CPU power. And of course, one click can restore the effects for further editing at any time.
Studio One version 1 brought the world’s first DAW integration of SoundCloud. With this feature, you could upload your music to SoundCloud directly from within Studio One. Studio One 2 brings another first: SoundCloud is now integrated directly into the Browser.
