Prizmo OCR is an optical character recognition app for the Mac. It allows you to convert your scanned documents into searchable and editable documents. You can save those documents in many formats, including PDF, rich text or regular text. You can also save your OCRed documents into image formats.
To start the process, simply drag an image to the drop zone. When you do that, it will be loaded on a different pane that will take up most of your screen space. First, you have to tell the application where the text is. To do that, you click on the for corners of your page, or you can use the full image. After that, and depending on the quality of your image, Prizmo OCR will be able to recognize the text. For best results, you would have to use a scanner. But, you can also use camera images. I tested the app both with a regular digital camera and the camera on my iPhone. The results with my iPhone were not pretty, but the digital camera image was more than enough to work with this app.
All in all, this app performs its functions quite well and it is really easy to use. I got confused a couple of times with the grids, but a quick look at the help solved my problems.
