Quiet Read allows you to save links to read them later. Unlike many other services that let you read news and articles later, Quiet Read is not on the cloud. It simply saves your links on your Mac. In other words, this won't offer any synchronization options with mobile devices or even the web. And it won't download articles for offline reading.
Quiet Read runs on the MenuBar. When you want to add an article to your list, you simply drag the URL from your web browser to the MenuBar icon. A list of saved articles can by accessed by clicking on that icon. Although Quiet Read is free, you can purchase a license that gives you access to an array of interesting features. The ones that I like the most are support for online services and shortcuts. If you pay, you can send articles from your Quiet Read list to Instapaper, Delicious, Read it Later or Pinboard. You can also use a URL shortening service from the app's menus. A search box also becomes available when you get a license.
All in all, this is a nice app, but most of its features, you can get for free. If you want to send articles to Read It Later, you can simply download a bookmarklet for that, for example.
