Readiris is a great tool for quickly and easily scanning documents into digital formats. It's incredibly intuitive and user-friendly, and the quality of the scanned documents is excellent. It's also great that it can upload the resulting files to cloud storage, making it easy to share and store them. Highly recommended!
Readiris is intended for converting images, such as those acquired from a scanner, into editable text by applying optical character recognition. Likewise, it serves to edit and create PDF documents from scratch. In this regard, the tool can generate PDFs from any other program with printing capabilities.
The program has a neat interface, with a ribbon that allows accessing the required feature easily. So, adding annotations and comments is a breeze. The same is true for protecting and signing your PDF documents.
Readiris supports practically every type of scanner. Luckily, there is a wizard to help you scan from printed material and make the resulting document fully editable. In this regard, the program is characterized by performing OCR extremely fast; actually, much faster than its competitors. It produces quite accurate results, thanks to its support of more than 130 languages. Still, they are not as reliable as those obtained from at least one similar tool, particularly when the source page is not so clear. However, Readiris is definitely very good at preserving the original document layout and format.
The program supports exporting to formats other than PDF. In this respect, it is possible to save your results to a wide range of document and image formats. In addition, you can send your files to not only local storage devices but also cloud services. Unfortunately, you cannot save your results to the clipboard, something that most other similar tools support.
All in all, Readiris is certainly a solution to consider if you need to convert scanned pages into fully editable text. The product is available in three licenses: Standard, Pro and Corporate. Regrettably, some features, like batch processing, are only available from the most expensive version. Yet, it is good that all three versions can be tried at no cost.
