Remotix are cloud-based services that support collaboration by allowing remote screen access, clipboard synchronization and file sharing. Two different apps are distributed: Remotix and Remotix Agent. The first is the full client intended for administrative tasks while the second, which is being reviewed here, is installed on your workstation to facilitate connecting to them. Luckily, there are similar apps for different platforms so it is possible to connect to other machines irrespective of the operating system they are running.

The application is very light and easy to install. As a first step, you should grant it permission to access the disk, capture audio from the microphone and record your screen. Its interface is quite Spartan, without any adornments, which corresponds to its purely technical function. Moreover, there are easy ways by which you can generate a new access code, change the computer’s name, create a list of trusted users, enable monitoring actions and configure remote connections.

The services that power the app are generally considered powerful, reliable and fast. They support establishing both VNC and RDP connections. The whole system of cloud services, main app and agent allow visualizing the remote machine’s desktop, transferring files between computers and sharing clipboard contents. As with most other server-based services, there have been logical concerns about the security of your data. Regrettably, there are reports of sluggishness when VNC connections are used.

In general, Remotix Agent is necessary if you want to use Remotix services for remote access. This agent app is free to install, but I must alert you that the services that support it may require paying for a subscription.
