At a first sight, Royal Gems might seem like another match-3 puzzle game in the style of consecrated names like Bejeweled and Candy Crush, but in fact it’s quite different. You are still given colorful puzzles to solve, but you don’t have to switch the positions of gems in order to create matches. Instead, you have to put your observation skills to test and notice figures that can be created on the board with gems of the same color, from simple straight lines, to more intricate shapes. You get bonuses for each discovered shape and you earn crystals when you complete a level. With these crystals you can purchase upgrades and enjoy a more complex game experience.
Though it comes with rather simple, 2D graphics, Royal Gems looks good, being really colorful and appealing. The fact that it’s a bit different than the classic match-3 puzzles makes it even more attractive and interesting.
