sBlaster is a simple audio tool that records any sounds coming through your computer. No matter if the audio is grabbed from Mac applications, multimedia players, or audio devices – the recording process is just as easy.
The program comes with a modern and attractive interface, which is, at the same time, easy to use. All you need to do is select the source of the recording, choose the target format, and set the folder path to store the audio track. The tool supports ten of the most popular audio file formats, among which I could mention MP3, Ogg, FLAC, AAC, and AIFF. Thus, it is unlikely that the audio files you have just recorded with this tool are not compatible with your computer media player. As it happens with all similar programs, you have the ability to set the quality of the recording. Three quality profiles are provided by default – low, medium, and high. They feature built-in parameters customized differently for each file format. However, if you consider that the profiles don't meet your requirements, you have the ability to apply a series of advanced settings.
Despite its simplicity and the lack of interesting features, the program is stable and works well. It does nothing more, and nothing less, than to record the audio coming from your computer applications. Unfortunately, it doesn't provide any editing functions whatsoever. Some basic features like cut and merge would have been appropriate. In addition, there is no option to stop a recording automatically when silence sections appear or when the decibel scale goes below a certain level of audio perception.
