Secure Folder is Windows utility that helps you prevent unauthorized users from accessing your local directories while you're away from your PC. This program might prove to be of good use if you're sharing your computer with other people and don't want them to move, delete or open your private folders.
You will need to enter a master password, an email address (useful if you forget the master password and wish to recover it), and a hint when you launch the application for the first time. The access password will be set for every directory you choose to protect from prying eyes.
The utility is very simple to handle. All you need to do is to select a folder within your PC, choose the preferred protection profile (hide, lock or encrypt), and click the "Secure" button. To undo the aforementioned alteration, click over the "Insecure" button.
In my testing, the program successfully protected the selected directory. I tried to move, delete, and open the folder. A pop-up window let me know that I wasn't able to complete any of these 3 actions.
The only tools that didn't work so well were the encryption and decryption functions. It might take a while for the program to encrypt or decrypt folders. Furthermore, your system might work slower while completing the encryption and decryption processes.
Still, Secure Folder proves to be a reliable solution for making sure no one accesses your directories while you're not around your PC. It's easy-to-use, efficient, and affordable.
