SelamSoft Amharic-English 

Amharic is a Semitic language spoken mainly in Ethiopia, as well as in Ethiopian communities around the world. This program is an Amharic-English and English-Amharic dictionary. Its use is very simple. You only need to write or copy-paste the word you want to translate using the corresponding blank spaces; for example, if you want to translate an English word into Amharic, you need to write or paste it in the space next to the American flag, and vice versa. Then, you need to click on the corresponding flag, and the translation will appear on the lower panel.

A good feature of the program is that, when writing the first letters of a word, a scroll appears showing the words that correspond to these letters, thus letting you choose the word you are searching for without the need of writing it completely.

Maybe the main disadvantage of this program is that Amharic is a very specialized language that is limited to a specific group of speakers. Nevertheless, it may be useful for people working with these communities.

Another disadvantage is that there are several websites that offer free online dictionaries and programs using this pair of languages.

The trial version has a limited amount of translated words. Also, at startup, it shows a screen prompting you to purchase the full version, with more words and the possibility of adding audio files.
