Like most JRPG games, the core gameplay of Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster is that of exploration and turn-based combat. The player can explore the world as they wish, with encounters taking place in a separate game mode where the player is locked in combat until the battle is over.
Being a remaster, Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster has the advantage of an existing fan base that enjoyed the game the first time it was released.
