SmartFix can help you not only get rid of malware but also restore your system to the state previous to the attack. It promises to be effective against those stubborn viruses that other AV tools could not detect or remove. Although the product is quite simple to use, it does not have any help documentation in English. In this respect, there is a forum in Russian only (which you can translate automatically).
The program is portable and there is an initial menu to help you perform any of three possible actions. The first option consists in integrating SmartFix into the Start menu and the recovery environment. This way, you can use it to troubleshoot and solve possible problems if your system fails to boot due to malware actions.
The second option lets you fix network settings in case of any alteration. Unfortunately, you do not get any feedback whatsoever about what the program is doing to fix the issues, so you will have to trust everything will be OK. However, it is good that you can check the changes from the log file.
There is a third possibility, which implies third-party antimalware tools, including Autoruns, AdwCleaner, Dr. Web CureIt!, ESET Online Scanner, Kaspersky Virus Removal or WinRepair. In this regard, the merit of the developer is having made a great selection and saving you from downloading the tools manually.
It is a good thing that there is the possibility of uploading suspicious files for their verification. However, this is only possible from the developer’s site. It would be good if you could do that from within the program instead. The results of the verification will be taken into account for developing future versions.
All in all, SmartFix can help you keep your PC free from virus, but, most importantly, it can also undo unwanted changes. The tool certainly needs polishing and providing English documentation would be a great help. Fortunately, the product is light, free and portable, so there is not much to lose if you try it.
