SocialSafe is an app that can download your Facebook and Twitter data. As the developers call it, it is an offline diary for your online life. To put it shortly, the app downloads everything you have on Facebook and Twitter and lets you browse it offline. The great thing about having your Facebook downloaded to your computer is that it works as a backup. If for any reason Facebook crashed or your account would get hacked, you could easily restore your data.
There are four versions of SocialSafe: Free, Standard, Pro, and Enterprise. The free version has the biggest number of limitations, but it still can be used to download your photos, your profile, your friends and your updates. The Enterprise version is the most complete one and it lets you save your Facebook and Twitter data.
The app is very easy to use. After you have typed in your login details and authorized the app on Facebook, all you need to do is select what you want to backup and how you want to do it. The app lets you even schedule backups. I like the feature that lets you export a ZIP file of all your pictures. I upload most of my pics to Facebook first, and I might forget to keep copies of them. Using this feature, I can download them for safe-keeping.
SocialSafe is written in Adobe AIR, so you can use it on Windows and Mac OS X.
