SomaFM Radio Player is a program designed for Mac users who wish to listen to commercial-free radio stations on their computers without the need to use their default browser for streaming. This application lets you choose among 20 radio channels, allows you to keep lists of your favorite stations and songs, and helps you keep track of the latest SomaFM community updates.
The utility features a very intuitive interface and allows you to use shortcut keys to pause playback or stream the next or previous radio channel. SomaFM Radio Player also comes with an integrated sound volume controller that lets you increase or decrease audio volume without altering the system sound level.
What's more, this app lets you mark the radio channels and songs you like the most as Favorites. The utility also gives you direct access to the Amazon webpage of any song within the channels' playlists in case you wish to acquire the tune.
Another good aspect about this radio tool is that it uses a small amount of CPU resources while streaming music. In my testing, Activity Monitor (Mac's default system monitoring tool) showed that SomaFM Radio Player used a maximum of 5% of CPU resources.
Briefly, SomaFM Radio Player proves to be a smart addition for any Mac user who wishes to listen to online radio channels without being bothered by commercials. And since the app comes without a price tag, I can't find any reason why you shouldn't try it on your computer.
