SparkBooth can be used to take photos in a simulation of a real photo booth. Such an application needs to be easy to use and SparkBooth is no exception. Most of the times, all it requires is pressing the space bar to take a photo.
This product is available in three different licenses: Personal, Premium and DSRL. This means that you get different features depending on the license you have purchased. For instance, although it supports three modes: Photo Booth, Photo Kiosk and Mirror Booth, only the first one mentioned is available from the Personal license.
Before taking a photo, you can always make some quick adjustments, which include choosing one of the connected cameras and the desired effect. By default, it produces a vertical strip of four photos; however, there are other layouts you can pick as well. In addition, you can configure effects, such as sound and preview time. Regrettably, although it lets you use hotkeys, they cannot be customized.
Once you have taken the photographs, there are several options to share them with others. In this regard, you can easily export them to various picture formats, like GIF (animated gifs for premium licenses only), JPG, JPEG and PNG. There is also the possibility to send your pictures directly to a printer. Finally, SparkBooth can also upload them to the cloud or sent them via email.
In general, SparkBooth can be used to simulate a photo booth. It is an excellent way to have fun with your friends and keep memories of important events. As said, there are three different licenses, but you can still try the product at no cost.
v6.0
The recent Sparkbooth 6.1 update allows guests to select photo layouts of different photo sizes. Previously, guests could only select photo layouts of the same photo size (square, widescreen, portrait, etc.). Some changes that were made to allow this to happen:
The list of photo layouts is no longer separated by photo size. It is now one long list of layouts.
Under settings, you can filter photo layouts by photo size to help find a layout, but the list of favorite layouts still includes all photo sizes. If you want guests to only be able to select layouts of a single photo size type, you will have to un-favorite all the layouts of the other photo sizes.
In the photo layout lists, the name of the layout is followed by the photo size, paper size, and then orientation.
Under camera settings, the rotate camera settings is visible and applied regardless of the current photo size of the photo layout. Previously, rotating the camera only worked for portrait photo sized photo layouts. You can also select the photo size from camera settings to help position and adjust the camera for the various photo sizes.
It is recommended that you use the photo layout selection screen instead of the on-screen button since the user interface will change proportion to the photo size of the layout you have selected. If you use the button, the button will move as the proportion of the screen changes.
