Push your mathematical ability to the max!

Everybody has a bête noir - a thing that they find difficult and dislike doing as a result. Mine is math, a subject I hated in school and still try to avoid today. Maybe if I was a bit better at it, I wouldn't hate it so much!

Speed Mind Maths is a program designed to do just that - help you strengthen your basic math skills so that you have a solid base on which to build more advanced abilities. The premise of the program is easy. You pick the area you would like to practice on and Speed Mind Maths asks you questions that you have to answer (without the help of a calculator!), assessing your responses and speed.

Speed Mind Maths allows you to practice an enormous variety of mathematical functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, squares, cubes, square roots, cube roots, doubling, and halving. There are basic preference settings within each of the areas - for example, while subtracting, you can specify that you only want positive answers, or just integrals while dividing. The Speed Mind Maths interface is none too slick, but it is modifiable, so at least you can change the colors to your liking.

While you are doing the calculations, Speed Mind Maths keeps track of your progress, and at the end gives you the average speed it took you to answer the questions. Presumably the aim is to get this average speed as low as possible, because there is no other way of tracking your performance over time.

If you are truly interested in improving your math, you will take notes and compare, but the program would be vastly improved by some sort of automated progress monitor. Nonetheless, Speed Mind Maths generates a huge range of calculations for you to practice on, and that is, without a doubt, the most important aspect of the program.

Speed Mind Maths is a good tool to help you build your mental math muscles!
