SpyParty is a stunning multiplayer indie game driven by a novel concept. Taking on the role of a spy at an extravagant cocktail party, players must complete a series of objectives while blending into the crowd. The whole gathering is being watched closely by another player through the telescopic laser scope of a sniper rifle, whose mission is to identify and eliminate the spy.
Playing as the spy, gamers must make themselves inconspicuous by integrating themselves amongst the AI-controlled party guests. Although playing as the sniper perhaps sounds easier, trying to keep track of all the happenings within the party setting can feel overwhelming, and requires concentration and patience to make the single bullet count. SpyParty is an unexpectedly difficult game, but there is a tutorial mode which expertly explains key elements of the gameplay.
While the game may at first seem simplistic, it becomes apparent after completing a few rounds that there is much more to SpyParty than meets the eye. SpyParty is an incredibly well put-together title, which forces us to think more deeply about human behaviour and its subtle intricacies.
