
Super Mario Bros: Odyssey is a free-to-play adventure experience from smbmaster99. It is essentially a fan-made remake of the first Super Mario Bros game, originally released in 1985. The visuals are closer to Super Mario Land, but with added cutscenes and recreates the original levels in a new style. Furthermore, the platformer offers new content such as movesets and skins from succeeding Mario games.

Super Mario Bros: Odyssey follows the same general premise as the original. The brothers set out torescue Princess Peach from Bowser, with help from the Toads or the Mushroom People. You can choose between Mario and Luigi instead of whether you play as Player 1 or Player 2. Additionally, the story is better explored in this game thanks to the additional cutscenes that show interaction between the characters.
This game has content taken from succeeding Mario games. For example, the first chapter of the game also comes with a couple of tutorial boxes. Similarly, the game also has checkpoint flags—a feature not available until the later stages of the original game. Also, the game’s visuals are different from the original 8-bit approach. It adapts the same graphics as Super Mario Land.
Lastly, the game comes with a couple of new movements such as sliding on walls or charging jumps. The only catch in this game is that itdoes not include all levels. Also, instead of the traditional eight worlds with four levels each, it only has a single world with eight levels taken from different set designs in the original game.
