Sync Folder Pro is intended to synchronize contents between two folders. In this respect, the tool supports various modes, including bidirectional synchronization, backup and restore. Unfortunately, the app is not as user-friendly as other similar tools. However, should you have any questions, there is detailed help documentation online to answer them.
The application supports synchronizing folders stored in practically any type of storage device: local disks, USB drives, networked drives and memory cards. Similarly, it can be used to synchronize local content to Cloud storage services like Dropbox.
Its interface is composed of five tabs. In this respect, the Sync tab lets you create tasks. First, you should give your task a name. Next, you need to pick the two folders you want to synchronize. Luckily, it is possible to include or exclude given files based on their names, folder, extension and type. Next, you should pick one of the synchronizing modes available. Good news there is a table explaining what each of these modes does; otherwise, it would be impossible to know. Finally, you can decide what to do with the deleted files and whether you want the changes to be tracked or not.
The following tab is labeled Tasks and it keeps a list of all the sync tasks you have previously configured. It lets you manually execute the currently selected task or a group of them. Good news is that up to any number of tasks can be run simultaneously. Likewise, it allows scheduling them to run automatically at a given time or frequency.
The next two tabs, Last Changes and Log, are quite similar in their purpose. They help you view the list of changes as well as any issues. Finally, there is the Settings tab, which is intended to configure automatic synchronization, manage the database and disable some types of notifications.
Fortunately, Sync Folders Pro has various features that reduce the possibility of data loss. In this regard, there is protection during copying, which prevents problems due to accidental disconnection of one of the drives. Moreover, it lets you preview the results of a sync task before it is actually run.
All in all, Sync Folders Pro has the main advantage of supporting bidirectional data synchronization. The product is available in various versions: Free, Pro and Pro+. Good news is that you can update to the Pro+ version for free, if you use Pro version and create a bootable version of your hard drive, which you can use in case your system crashes.
