TaxACT 2012

TaxACT is a utility meant to serve as a tax filing solution to U.S. taxpayers. Several tax-related forms are made available by the program, so that users can enter their tax information.

There are two entry methods: "question and answer" and "forms". The first method offers step-by-step guidance for filling-in the forms and is best for those who are first-timers in completing their own return. The "forms" method allows for data to be completed directly in tax forms as well as in other documents. The method addresses those who already have experience in tax return preparation. Where guidance is concerned, the "help" section of the utility includes a "tax glossary", where terms related to taxes are explained. Links to additional tax publications, such as "your rights as a taxpayer", are also listed in this section, so that users can better understand tax-related issues.

Those who are not familiar with tax information need to have patience in managing the forms even with the guidance that is made available. Some tools that can be used within the program are the stock assistant, the loan calculator and the savings calculator.
