The Far Kingdoms: Winter Solitaire is a card game that brings you dozens of challenging levels, interesting characters, and nicely-painted artworks. Your objective is to help princess Arianna save her kingdom from the Ice Queen by completing various challenges.
The app brings you stunning animations and graphics, has a fitting background music, and provides you with a tutorial and plenty of gameplay instructions. Furthermore, besides offering you numerous solitaire levels, this app also provides you with several hidden object mini-games (for example, in one you need to find a certain amount of golden coins within a scene). I also like that you interact with plenty of characters, from a lazy frog to a crow that offers you useful information.
In each level your goal is to eliminate all cards from the board. You need to match cards that are one number higher or lower than the foundation card (placed on the bottom side of the screen). You can purchase various power-ups from the frog that will come in handy while playing the missions. For instance, you can buy a wild card which shows a random value and is placed over your current foundation card.
The one thing that bothered me while testing this game was that it failed to maintain the display settings after restart. I played it in windowed mode and after I relaunched the game on my Mac, it was back in a fullscreen mode (the initial display mode is fullscreen). Still, this isn't a huge deal as you can always toggle the windowed or fullscreen mode from the Options panel.
