timeLAPSE is a commercial graphics editing application. With it, you can create time lapse movies using your Mac's desktop. A time lapse video is a compilation of images put together into a video file. By default, the application will capture your screen every 30 seconds, but you can change this value to any one between 10 seconds and 172,800 seconds. So, let's say that you choose the minimum value of 10 seconds and start a capture. In a minute, you will have 6 screenshots. In 10 minutes, you will have 60. That is probably enough for a short video of a few seconds. But the fun starts when you have been capturing screenshots for a while.
The developer of this application states that the main uses for this app are computer security, education (behavior study), and that it is very useful for law-enforcement personnel, medical care professionals, lawyers and journalists. I should agree with the first use. It is easy to spy on other users of your computer with this tool. You can see what they have been doing, what applications they have been using and what websites they have been browsing through.
timeLAPSE can be password protected so that it can't be closed. The dock icon can be hidden, but not the menubar icon. Still, the icon is easy to miss if you are not looking for it.
