Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction is a third-person action game. Splinter Cell is a franchise that is known because it lets you use objects in your surroundings to be stealthy and take out enemies without them ever knowing what was coming. In Conviction, you are rewarded for being stealthy, but you can also jump into a location with guns blazing.
Conviction takes place three years after the events of Splinter Cell Double Agent. The game starts with Victor Coste (a former Navy Seal) being interrogated in a Black Arrow facility. He starts telling the story of the game in the past tense. If you didn't have to pick up the controller to play this game, it would totally pass as a Hollywood movie; it is that good. But I am not going to spoil the story for you.
Gameplay has seen some changes since Double Agent. There are two important new features: Mark and Execute and Last Known Position. The former lets you tag enemies and then execute them automatically without having to aim before making the shots. You can also mark traps in the environment to take out one or multiple enemies. The Last Known Position shows a shadow where you were last seen. Enemies will often approach this shadow to investigate, and you can use this to your advantage.
The gameplay, story, and graphics are excellent in this game. There are tons of challenges to complete and Deniable Ops is a great mode to keep playing the game even after you have completed the main story.
Unfortunately, the Mac version of this game isn't as good as it could be. The problem with it is that it hasn't been well optimized for Mac hardware. Only a handful of Macs can run the game without problems because the game requires dedicated graphics cards. The game has a rating of 2 and a half stars at the Mac App Store, and that is only because of how hard it is to get the game running.
